Indian Institute of Foreign Trade(IIFT), Kolkata bagged the first prize of the eventful NTPC Electron Regional Finals of Eastern Region-II 2023 followed by IIM Calcutta in the second and NIT Rourkela secured the third position.

Shri P M Prasad, CMD, Coal India Limited in the presence of Shri Partha Mazumder, Regional Executive Director, ER-II, Shri Karunakar Das, Chief General Manager and Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon, Shri Rajnish Rastogi, GM(HR), ER-II awarded the prizes to the winners and participants at Netaji Subhas Auditorium, Coal India Limited Headquarters at Kolkata today. Speaking on the occasion Shri P M Prasad, CMD,CIL appreciated the efforts of NTPC Eastern Region -II in conducting the electron quiz in a seamless and disciplined manner. Shri Prasad highlighted the fact that NTPC and CIL have been powering the nation and meeting the energy requirements of the nation.

It was a close competition with teams competing for the title till the end. Shri Siddharth Sankar Rout and Shri Ivan Mohanty, IIFT Kolkata won the title of NTPC Electron Regional Finals with a leading score of 115, Shri Arnab Mandal and Shri Piyush Kedia from IIM Calcutta came second with a score of 95 and third position was secured by Shri Tanmoy & Shri Swapnanil Das from NIT Rourkela with a score of 20.

The regional finals was also graced by Shri Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Director (Mining),HCL, Shri Subrata Mandal, Director (O&M),WBPDCL, Shri John Mathai, Member Secretary, DVC, Shri Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR),CIL, Shri Mukesh Choudhary, Director(Marketing),CIL, Alok Lalit Kumar, ED (Coordination), CIL and senior officials of CIL and NTPC Eastern Region-II .

This year, NTPC Regional Finals of ER-II Electron quiz, had generated a lot of interest amongst the students and has seen unprecedented rise and an overwhelming response from across cities in the eastern region. A total of 91 teams registered for the event encompassing 182 students from the states of Odisha, West Bengal and North Eastern States of India.

The top three teams of the Regional Final will represent the National Finale of NTPC Electron Quiz.

Electron Quiz started in 2004 and since then it has connected with young minds with an aim to develop a healthy learning and development culture. NTPC is committed to introduce a new perspective on quizzing that is a non-conventional, yet powerful learning tool for young India. This year the regional rounds of Electron Quiz of NTPC has been started from Eastern Region-II after a hiatus of 2019 due to covid.
